Re: Instant Messaging Software (IM clients)

OK. I am beyond frustrated. I cannot find a single application to work with my Blackberry Pearl just for AIM.
That Ramble mess has a site that hardly works and it is always down, and now that it is up, I sent request to get it, and I have received no email. I used 7 diff addresses with nothing received.

Any other application I try with a trial, just wil not connect, so I am not bothering anymore. Jive Talk is full of Open Tunnel mess! So, basically I have nothing to use for AIM. Good Yahoo and Google talk are my #1's! The are the real applications and not a knock off and they WORK ALL THE TIME!

I would think that BlackBerry can do something about this and get an AIM application up and running, instead of peoeple who have sites and software with open tunnel failures all the time and sites they cannot maintain.

We spend BIG money for these devices to have open tunnel failures. We need the AIM ...the REAL AIM application.

It would be really great if someone can send me that Ramble latest application, so I may try to use this: Gemini365i@GMAIL.COM

    I would apppreciate it.

Don't bother. I got it. The author sent me the link. That's open tunnel failure too......LOL I'm done with these external applications.

    Thank you,
    JE

Sorry to hear of all the problems but it sounds more like something is wrong with your setup or options somewhere and not the programs themselves.

I had no problem with Ramble, JT or any of the IM programs. Think about trying JT again and post in the "official" thread about the errors your getting.

Re: Instant Messaging Software (IM clients)

Sup guys, I'm too lazy to look through the whole thread to see if someone has already asked this, but is there another free messenger service that I can use other than Blackberry Inst Msgr? All the others charge as SMS's from what I know thus far... Plus I'd like to be able to chat with friends that don't have BBerry's. Thanks in advance.

well, the only other instant messaging apps out use data. do you have a data plan? what exactly do you mean "free"? free for download or free to use? either way, you will need a data plan to use some and an sms plan to use others...

Re: Instant Messaging Software (IM clients)

jivetalk definatelly has potential, but as of right now, nothing else.... The program looks awesome, but is slow as Molasses ( since they are going thru middle-man server between client and server of IM, and it's overloaded most of the time) as well as not being able to work correctly all the time. If you're a big AIM user, my vote is on Yak-On!, which I used for the 15 day trial, and liked it so much I payed the $19.95 one time fee. It was well worth it.
