Hi guys, I have the 8700c on the Cingular network and I run IM+...there is an option that says "server polling"...what does that mean and what setting should I have it under for optimal performance? Your response would be greatly appreciated...feel free to PIN me the answer...thanks in advance!

Re: Instant Messeging Software (IM clients)

    I personally use Yak-On with my 8700c.

I used to use Ramble when I had my 7520 - and though you couldn't argue with the price (Hey, it's free!) - I just wanted a program with a little more developer support and thats a little more stable. I wanted something a little more intuitive, one that would stay connected as much as possible, and would not disconnect after a number of hours.

Think more of a "sidekick-like" AIM program. I think Yak-on does this, and for not bad of a price ($19.95).

The one thing I don't like about using Ramble is that I don't get any notification of an IM's. No sound, No vibrate, no pop-up no icon, NOTHING. (vibrate alert only works I am in Ramble) The only way I know is if I go into the Ramble and see who's name is red (meaning they have sent an IM). I think I am going to try a pay service that will work like the desktop.

Re: Instant Messeging Software (IM clients)

I just had to comment that I love the Tmo IM on the new 8700. IT is much better than it was on the 7100t. It seems more like the desktop IM and enter sends a message. The thing I disliked was that there are no line breaks when you are typing your message so if it is longer than the screen you can not see the start. There is also a seprate entry in the sound profile to let you choose a sound or none at all for each IM service, AIM, MSN, ICQ, and Yahoo.

Question Re: Instant Messeging Software (IM clients)

Has anyone had issues with ramble? I have installed it and it seems to eat up my battery and also I miss calls all the time due to the constant communication it does. My calls go right to voicemail (60% of the time)

I am using googletalk right now and have configured it to use all my AOL IM contacts to msg through gtalk.

Please PM me or pin to 300E2805 with any help,

    Thanx in advance

How about a link for this software? And, maybe, an update for the main list up top? Thanks!

Re: Instant Messeging Software (IM clients)

Does anyone knows how to take of the built in IM software...I have TMO using 7105t...it comes with all 4 AOL, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo already pre-installed on the bb...but I have noticed that the preinstalled MSN does not work properly...plus I have the version of yahoo that RIM support....so I would like to see if I can take off the preinstalled MSN and Yahoo....is that possible??? Thanks!
