Resent service books several times through my provider's BIS webpage...no luck.
Pulled out battery..no luck still have the message "your handheld doesn't'have the required service books" when starting Window Live messenger that I successfully installed.
Help would be appreciated by PIN / email.

It works, I had it installed (somehow) and then wiped my pearl (on purpose). Couldn't get WLM to install. Then followed autisberry's plan. Now enjoying using it again. Though still not entirely convinced it's better than jiveIM...

i went to http://www.blackberry.com/devicesoft....do?code=wlm20 however, the wbesite says :
    Windows Live Messenger Note
Microsoft Windows XP service Pack 2 (SP2) users: if you encounter an error, lok at the top of this page for a yellow bar that reads "this site might require the following activex control 'axloader.cab'......."

is there anyway i can get this to download?

try it ota.i tried to load this for weeks but was just able to do it a few days ago.go to blackberry help(should be a bookmark for it)and in the "what's hot" section you should see the link for instant messaging for blackberrys.after that you will see msn live.as i said i followed these links before with no luck but was able to load it a few days ago.either they fixed something or i just finally got lucky.
    good luck

Managed to install by using the trick : OTA Yahoo then OTA WLM

But unable to use : i miss some service books.

resent service books : didn't help
pulled battry out : no help
restored service books by ranxoren.ipd : no help

Tried with both OS 4.2 and OS 4.5 on a BB 8820

service book issue is carriers issue. If the carrier didn't pay for the WLM lisence then you won't able to use the WLM although u can install it using this trick

If you're talking about the OTA Downloader, that is something that downloads stright from the site to your desktop; nothing to do with your handset or provider (phone/data). However, it will be a part of your net usage (office/home wherever). Hope that helps...

I use it all the time, as I hate getting App's OTA and then having to re-install them OTA. I just keep them stored on my PC and re-install if required that way (I think it's even easier than using DM).
