How To Install Windows Live Messenger

Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to download WLM, some of us might get the message " sorry, your device bla bla bla... "

Here's a tip that works for me :
    1. (if you have yahoo! Messenger, delete it) install Y!M OTA from BlackBerry™ help
    2. After downloaded/installed, the browser screen will return to the last page of confirmation, DO NOT CLOSE THE BROWSER
    3. Press End Button (Red Button next to Escape) or use application switcher (alt+escape) to return to home screen
    4. Open the Windows Live Messenger Icon to start download process
    5. Enjoy Windows Live Messenger on ur BlackBerry™

I got this tip from id-BlackBerry community

    Hi!

I just tried this on my wifes Pearl 8100 on AT&T. It didn't come up with an icon for WLM after downloading Y!M. Did I miss something?

    Thanks

    Sorry....
1st thing you need is to have the WLM icon on the screen before you do the process above

If the icon didn't show, send service book

Oh well, I guess this doesn't work on AT&T then. I tried resending my service books (for about the 50th time since the BIS 2.5 update). Still no MSN icon, but then again AT&T is the one that blocks MSN anyway. I'll be sticking to JiveTalk for now, but I'd still love to get MSN on my wife's phone.

Thanks for trying to help though!

Just worked for me, 8130 on Telus.

I went to the blackberry WLM download page first, went through all the pages including connecting my BB, then it tells me "device not supported" THEN you go, download Y!M OTA from blackberry, don't close the browser, alt-tab, and find the WLM icon that has appeared on your device desktop.. its put there when you try to do the initial download, but fails because you aren't a Bell Canada subscriber. But when you keep the browser open, it must still be in a state of authorizing you for downloads from the Y!M sequence, and then allows non Bell BB's to download the software.

    Works like a charm.

Try resending your service books. That should help.
