I'm having this same exact problem! I have an AT&T 8800 with OS 4.2.1.79. Desktop Manager is version 4.2.0.10. I think that is the latest for both (it's brand new).

OTA works perfectly, but every program I try to install has this problem.

Any help would be really appreciated!!

    thanks

Hey there - I actually solved my problem. You need to install not just the application loader, but also the handheld-specific software. Here's what I wrote in another thread:

Well, I finally figured it out! I did in fact need to download my handheld software onto my computer. I still don't really understand what that does, but it worked!

Thanks everyone for your help! If anyone else is having this problem, this is the thread where I found my device software:

Did you execute the HH S/W file after downloading it? Is it the download file the Same or Later Version of the OS than that on your BB? Do you get this error message when you click on the ADD button? If it after you select the .alx file, did you unzip the Opera Mini download file? Are the Opera Mini .alx and all the .Cod files in the same directory.

Do you have the current version of your Handheld OS installed on your PC. This is required for Desktop Manager Apps Loader to load 3rd Party Apps.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.

    1. First you need to download the .alx files to your PC, just point your browser to the software (sometimes a zip file).

    2. Unzip the file to your PC's Desktop.

    3. Connect your BlackBerry to your PC and then launch the Blackberry Desktop Manager. (The Desktop manager can be found on the Blackberry CD that came with your device)

    4. From Desktop manager open 'Application Loader'.

    5. In the Application Loader click 'Next' .Type your password, if you have a device password set.

6.Click Next and in 'Handheld Application Selection' screen, click 'Add'.

    7. Go to the directory for the program you want to add (usually what you unzipped to your desktop), select the
    .alx file, and click 'Open'

    8. The application is now added to the software list, verify that it's checked and click Next.

    9. Now you can click Finish. The wizard will run.

    10. Verify that your software is loaded on the Blackberry

    Done!

I am new to the blackberry world so bear with me. I have downloaded several themes which are all .jad files. How do I load these onto my 8703 using the DM? The application loader doesn't seem to like these files

Hi. I have a BB 8320. I have unzipped the files I downloaded into the folder in my PC and, whenever I click "add" in the DM and choose the axl file I need, it doesn't show in the list of the Device Application Selection List. Instead, I get an error message that says "No additional applications Designed for your device were found"

Can anyone help me with this please...I am a recent convert from MS Pocket PC...so I have lots to learn.

    Thanks!

The "No additional App. . ." Error message indicates that you haven't downloaded the Device Software Package to you PC and installed it. If you need more information check li link in my sig or in my Profile.
