Malik,

do you have the Operating System for the Pearl itself, not the desktop manager software. You can get the latest version for your phone and carrier from here: http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...s_carrier.html

To find out if you have the newest version go to Settings: Options: About and it will tell you on the 3rd line down what OS version you have.

But as dfc added to reinforce my previous post, you also have to have the BB OS software installed on you PC for the Apps Loader to recognize any additional Applications to be loaded. You have to have both the DM and the OS installed correctly.

    Hope this helps

My first go at installing an appl. (stopwatch as well) on my pearl and it had the same response in the DM?

    "net.rim.blackberry.api" application is missing

What do you mean on having both the DM an the OS installed correctly? Is there like a special procedure for it?

    hawk838,

Sorry for the Delay, but I have been having connectivity problems.

No, but some people have had problems installing the BB OS correctly on their PC. They just download it and think that is enough. They don't realize that you have to run the download file.

    ico, Welcome to PinStack.

Not sure if you can. Maybe someone that knows better will be along and let us know.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.

Re: How to - install 3rd party software using DM

Hi ! I've succesfully downloaded several of the free games from the Mobile Rated website to my desktop PC. However, I have been unable to load it to my BB 8707g using the BB Desktop Manager and a USB cable. It seems that the Application Loader program of the BB Desktop Manager will only load files with the "alx" attachment. Is there any other way to these programs? Please help!

quote=hayden]To install 3rd party software using the desktop manager:

    1. First you need to download the .alx files to your PC, just point your browser to the software (sometimes a zip file).

    2. Unzip the file to your PC's Desktop.

    3. Connect your BlackBerry to your PC and then launch the Blackberry Desktop Manager. (The Desktop manager can be found on the Blackberry CD that came with your device)

    4. From Desktop manager open 'Application Loader'.

    5. In the Application Loader click 'Next' .Type your password, if you have a device password set.

6.Click Next and in 'Handheld Application Selection' screen, click 'Add'.

    7. Go to the directory for the program you want to add (usually what you unzipped to your desktop), select the
    .alx file, and click 'Open'

    8. The application is now added to the software list, verify that it's checked and click Next.

    9. Now you can click Finish. The wizard will run.

    10. Verify that your software is loaded on the Blackberry

    Done!
