    Question Help Please

I have a few issues with my Pearl...

I am trying to download some files but I don't have a zip file to open them so I need to know where I can get one of those for free?

I also didn't know if I am supposed to have a GPS locator on it? My GPS function seems to be blank when I look at it under settings, am I doing something wrong?

I also don't know how to get jar/jad files to download?

As you can see I don't know what I am doing? I have only had this over a year and it is my first BB so any help would be appreciated.

    thank you,
    Leah

Hi Leah and welcome to Pinstack....

    1. Most of the zip files you are seeing are self extracting. Download to your desktop and click on the download, you should get the option to extract.
    2. 8100 does not have built in GPS
    3. jar/jad files are for over the air download. They would be downloaded using your Blackberry Browser.

Post back if you have more questions - we are here to help!

Don't know for sure but when I have had problems downloading some ota apps my service provider had blocked some of that activity due to my data plan. Have you ever been able to download any of this type of content?~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Are you able to download the pinstack launcher. Type ota.pinstack.com and see if that will install ota.

what u really want is the colorpearl free software which can downloaded ota or desktop install and can be found at www.geekandproud.net/blackberry-software/ this application is really nice but only works for the original 8100 pearl, it changes the color of your trackball!
p.s. it wont work with the beta 4.3 or 4.5 os software hopefully this will be working on the official release! Hope this helps

Isn't jar/jad file self-loading file to your phone?
I uploaded to my phone by:
-> download jad/jar file to your phone
-> Click on "Media" icon on your phone
-> press "menu" button and click on "Explore"
-> locate your jad/jar file and click
-> your phone will ask you to get a permission to download
-> click on "download" then you are set to go.

I hope this is what you are trying to do with your jad/jar file.
