How to get AIM 2.0 (Sprint & T-Mobile)

Okay well here's how I got AIM 2.0 finally. I been waiting forever.

So as most people know, RIM finally released AIM 2.0 not that long ago. It, as the other 2.0 instant messengers, is fully featured an integrated. You can save people's screen names right in the address book, new ims come up in the message list, better connection and less bugs (i think), and most importantly for me, A FULL BUDDY LIST meaning no more Mobile Device 30 buddies crap.

Okay so Sprint customers, you can get it the normal way cuz it always worked for you. T-Mobile people, the only way I know as of now is to upgrade to the 4.5.0.x beta os. When you upgrade your phone, it can read T-Mobiles service books which now activate AIM 2.0 on the phone.

I have a 8320 T-Mobile and it works for me perfectly.

If anyone has another method let us know.

*Note os 4.5.0.x, depending on the phone is still a beta. SO according to Pinstack rules don't ask me for it because it is illegal to distribute. Go look for it on your own.

Well first you have to upgrade your BlackBerry to the beta 4.5 OS. There are many threads on how to upgrade in this forum. Getting the os however I cannot help you with. Once you have the os, install it on your computer, delete the vendor.xml file, and run Desktop Manager and update your phone.

The new AIM 2.0 will be on there. If you have T - Mobile or Sprint, it should work. If not, make sure you have BIS, TCP may have to be set, and you have your services books updated.

Then for those people who want the new AIM without the beta os, install the old os, and delete both the vendor.xml file as well as the old AIM files. Then Desktop Manager won't force you to downgrade.

Here are my service books for the 8320. I would assume that they should work on other phones.
