Are you talking about the program itself or sending messages? you can get free programs but they are still going to charge you for the connection that you will use..

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~OZ Messenger uses SMS not data. I've never tried it but the comments I've seen on this website don't make me want to try it. However, if SMS is your only option then you could be the next Wizard of OZ.

Yea mon. I had to find out the hard way. I was yahoo'in all day until I got that bill from TMobile... I told them that I didn't know that it counted as an SMS and they removed them from my bill. I learned my lesson.

As A AT&T User Im Very Pissed Off Because Of The Simple Fact That I Have to Use A #rd Party Program Called"OZ" To Use AIM. OZ's AIM Is Not The Same As T-Mobile AIM Application. When You Are Using OZ, Recieving Messages Take A Long Time To Recieve. But The T-mobile AIM Apps is like The Regular AIM Off The AOL Website. To Put It In Simple Words, I WANT THE AIM THAT PROVIDED WITH T-MOBILE. I Have A At&T Blackberry Curve 8310. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT YOU CAN USE THE T-MOBILE AIM SERVICE BOOKS ON AT&T? OZ Is Not Worth It Ladies And Gentleman. Its Not. Stick To Texting. You Get Your Messages Faster This Way!

There's no such thing as free IM...

As you wrote, SMS gets you charged.

JiveTalk uses data connection/data plan, AFAIK. So you get charged...
    I don't know about Ramble...
In space no one can hear you scream.

Here is a breakdown of all the messengers available for the berry. You'll have to do some reading but it'll give you all the information you'll need.

I think the real way to put it it: there is no such thing as quality free IM....
Jive Talk is the real solution!
