May want to be careful. I thought these alerts were free. They cost $3.99 monthly (in additon to monthly text rates). You have the option to opt-in or not.

Its not for alerts. Its one click access to the website. SO I dont see why it wouldnt be free.

    I went to MLB.com Mobile icon>Teams>Houston Astros>Get Alerts>Sign Up Now and got:

"A monthly charge of $3.99 will appear on your phone bill in addition to standard messaging charges. You can expect approximately 5 messages per day."

Nope thats not what I did. I went to MLB.com>then to Mobile>then on bottom left there is Blackberry, clicked that>then downloaded that.

No fee but it doesnt give alerts just gets you to the website, where you can view scores, stats, and etc. Thats free I think, dont see any cost mentioned.

if you want free alerts, go to yahoo.com and sign up for their alerts. Thing about yahoo though is they aren't very consistant.

If you have tmobile, log into your tmo account and its in there somewhere, but you can sign up to have all sorts of alerts for news, weather, almost any sport/team, etc.

I have tons of baseball alerts coming into my phone. I have them set to report every inning. More than enough reporting. And I have all the NFL games report to me also. After each time a touchdown is scored, I get a text message telling me the score.

Needless to say this is why my phone never shuts up, and why I accumulate about 18,000 text messages a month.

Oh yeah. And all above mentioned are free.

Same thing here, just hit the download button and a nice little rectangle with the logo for Major League Baseball showed up on my screen. The OTA address for who ever wants it is: http://wap.mlb.com/blackberry

Now if I can only get someone in the NHL to do the same thing.
