I thought FB fixed this a few months ago, but I guess the FB app is behind the times. Thanks for the info.

After attempting to download, it still shows the previous version (1.0.0.23). I went ahead and installed anyway thinking they may have just not updated the version, but I'm still seeing the "is". I can only assume they sent this out a little prematurely. Bummer. Has anyone else been able to download a new version?

Nope. Just got the email now and tried downloading it.

Still has the "is" in the status updates, which I think is in v 1.0.0.23

On the download page (when asked to click "Download" or "Cancel") press Menu > Refresh.

    That MIGHT work.

It would be nice to see some REAL updates to the Facebook application.

Access to some (or all) of the applications, the ability to browse members or something completely new and innovative...

The FB app needs MAJOR improvements. It's nice to have if you're just responding to people, but otherwise it's pretty weak.

You can't imagine the number of people who can't live without facebook ( including my wife) as long as it working 80% a lot of people won't mind. Any improvement would bring in more users.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's "pretty weak", in fact I think it's pretty functional...

But I'm bored with what's there, and combined with Research in Motion's (RIM) various technologies, I think it has the potential for so much more.

Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up, I just assumed that an official email from RIM would be legit. I just checked and still no update. I sent them an email about it.

I agree about the FB app being pretty weak at this point as far as features, but I do like getting the instant notifications and at least being able to respond to emails or wall posts immediately. There's still a lot of basic FB functionality that should be added before they even think about adding support for 3rd party FB apps. And when it has taken (ok, still taking) half a year for them to fix something as simple as removing the word "is", I wouldn't hold your breath.

Ha ha, yeah - in another two years, we might actually see some REAL updates!

I couldn't agree more-- what a way to P!$$ off your customers than to "launch" an update...without the update! WOO HOO!

Regardless, the FB App is still decent and has the "basic" functions you'd need to stay connected. I still would like to see a better interface and some more functions-- but I guess we could always just access the browser version for that!
    Best of Luck!

The "mobile" version of Facebook offers the same functionality as the Facebook application for the most part...

The only real difference I can think of is that users can access their groups on the "mobile" site.
