Thumbs up Re: Don't Text and Drive - Jott instead.....

Yeah contacts are pretty much a one ant a time process. The data mapping from Outlook or Notes was not good. The service does seem to work pretty well. I was impressed at the accuracy of the transcription. I still haven't figured out how to choose between sending an e-mail or an SMS when I have both the e-mail address and the phone number loaded for a client. Also, if a client has multiple e-mail addresses, seems like you have to put both on them in under seperate contacts.

But still.... it is a FREE service and works pretty much as advertized. I'll be using it.

Say you're driving in the car, and you suddently remember you were supposed to send a document to a client.

You want to make sure you dont' forget, so, you can pull out your blackberry, and go into your to do programs, and try entering a reminder while you're driving, and hope you don't crash... or...

Pull out your blackberry (or, if you have a bluetooth headset, you don't even need to do that), and call Jott.

A voice will ask you what you'd like to do.

Say "Reminder", and the voice will ask what date and time you want to be reminded on. Speak the date and time, and she'll confirm that she heard you correctly. If she did, simply say "Yes", if not, tell her No, and try again.

Then, simply speak the reminder you want to recieve, and it will be trasncribed and e-mailed to you on the day and time you specified.

You can also simply say something you want to be reminded about, or want in your device, and it will transcribe it (convert it to text) and e-mail you a copy right away.

Pretty cool... handy, if you want to enter a quick note and don't want to have to try texting while you're driving.

    You can't use a 1-800 number as a fave 5 number unfortunately.

Re: Jott "Don't text and drive"

You have to add your contacts to text/email them. I am just wondering if this opens them up to a barrage of junk mail/solicitations that they did not sign up for. Until I know that I am not willing to potentially subject them to that.
