1. The application is not signed. This means it can not use any of the native restricted API's of blackberry.
2. It is created using some cod converter or something, which means it is using pure java (J2ME), which in itself is a very restricted subset.

So this application doen't seem use any special functionality. Now all I can think of is this app doing is forcing garbage collection. I tested that too.

I ran the app, it showed the following:
Total Mem - 41,036,856 B
Free Mem - 36,890,232 B (90%)
Used Mem - 4,146,624 B (10%)
These values remain more or less consistent, with a few ups and downs..

I then ran quick boost. It shows 853,139 B recovered
And then the Used momory starts jumping between 1% to 5%

Now I close the app and start it again. Its back to 10% non fluctuating.

I didn't notice any VM garbage collection either.

Just a couple of comments:

In the first post I don't see any data recording the initial conditions from before you installed the app. So there's no before/after comparison.

A drop from 5 to 10 % to 1 % memory use is pretty good if that is what you're saying you got.

Your profile says you have a 7230 but the memory figures given above aren't physically achievable on a 7230. What device did you run your test on?

Thanks

Yes, how long is the trial. Can't find any contact info on the website to ask.

Re: Boost Up your BlackBerry with MemoryUp Mobile RAM Booster

I'm not sure why it's "launching" now, but I bought this program on June 29th. I haven't blown my horn about it much because it's questionable as to what it does. It could be working perfectly, doing what it says it is; or it could be an app that has moving graphics and numbers for all I know. However, it doesn't seem to do any harm either.

I'm also not technical enough to really understand it, but the same can be said for most BB apps, hehe.

I have installed it and it works like a charm. I have been able to get it to free 1 MB of space twice so it must work like it is promoted.

Re: Boost Up your BlackBerry with MemoryUp Mobile RAM Booster

It freed up about 6-10 % of my memory, seems to be a pretty nice app.

That is what the app was showing, not what it achieved

8707g is what I am using now.

There is a way to find your memory usage on blackberry:
Options >> Status >> File Free

Here are my stats (The values shown are as reported by blackberry under File Free):

Before running the app (Open the status screen and move the highlight to File Free)
File Free : 26,098,692 Bytes

Running the app and Doing a quickboost shows - recovered 4,065,908 B
Put the app in Hide mode, so that it keeps running.

Opened the Status screen again:
File Free : 26,096,248 Bytes

A Loss of 2444 bytes.

I somehow happen to trust blackberry status screen rather than relying on what the app claims.

Maybe it doesn't work for me. What are your results? The values from the blackberry status screen. Do they match the claim?

"I have tried MemoryUp for dozens of time and I really like this small but useful software. Today I contact their company for purchase and upgrade information. Their custom service is good, they reply me in a few minutes, telling me their is a free upgrade for each registered user. One minute ago I made my purchase on Handango. Feeling good!"

That's a better comparision of before and after and justifies your statement in the second post. Your first post didn't

Thanks

After re-thinking all this, I'm retracting my statement. This still isn't a valid comparison. Yes, installing the app will use some memory, but if you don't perform things on the BB that use and supposedly release memory (the same things both before and after) and then make the comparison it doesn't mean any thing. You are only telling us how much memory the program uses.
