as he stated, the video camera function can have the backlight on constantly. i am sure there will be a 3rd party app that utilizes it and makes a flashlight program

Came across this thread today - not sure who said I skipped out and don't have a valid email account - it has been active for years and is still active. I have been answering customer service emails - usually only get a couple a week. Ocasionally I check hotmail spam filter but not always - if you use AOL or comcast then for some reason hotmail labels you as spam.As far as some blackberrys freezing - it is probably the same problem I had with Sprint/Nextel - they have a bug in their firmware wrt exception handeling so I end up having to write a special version to code around that bug. I tried working with Sprint/Nextel, provided reproducable test cases and bug was never fixed. It works in the simulator as others have mentioned but the phone is buggy, so what I can do to fix it is somewhat limited.

I emailed you numerous times from my Yahoo email address. I also emailed the admin of http://www.esellerate.net/ where your site is hosted to try and get your contact info to no prevail.
This is why everyone thought you fell off the planet.

I think you should revive this application as it is still one of my fav apps
(still on my left conveneince key quick-draw-mcgraw style as its always been)

Alot of people have intrest in this app, its just very frustrating to some that it doesn't work on certain devices.

I would be more than happy to help beta test any future builds as I seem to have a knack tweaking apps to do goofy things. Future build SHOULD have a solid flashlite utility, just my OP

CodeCannon, I can't wait to see what you are cooking up.

Here is where to download BB simulators for every model available to help with your testing

(select 4.2 OS, then select a device simulator to download)

I purchased it, didn't work and my emails were never answered.
My suggestion is to delete it and forget about it.
    Think, do Ireally need this?

I test in the IDE emulators and on my 7100, if there are particular devices that are having problems then the emulators may provide some insight.

    UPDATE 12/19/07
OTA links below for updated version of Blinkberry Demo

i've had the demo for at least 2 months and never used it much because i don't like the cyan color for the flashlite. anyways heres step by step on how to use any color and have a quik draw mcgraw uber cool lite.

install to BlackBerry using desktop software (or OTA below!!!!!!!)

when you play around with blinkberry it has a LED CYAN flashlite mode
and someother blinking demos. the program is for seeing how much signal strength you have by colors and blinking.

heres where it gets really cool.
go down to set blink times , now set
    enter flash period (ms) 15000
    enter flash duration (ms) 15000

then save and go back to the main blinkberry screen
next go down to set signal colors
heres where you set the color by the level of signal strength you have
easiest way to get the color you want (for flashlite purposes) is to
set the all the same color

now when you go back to main screen you will have an LED flashlite (if screen is set to time out at 10 sec, it really works great.

next apply blinkberry demo to the left convenvience key. (via screen/keyboard settings)

anytime you lighty press the left
    convenvience key,
voila-----the LED flashlite you always wanted.
notes, the flashlite only works in the demo, so when you close app, so does the flashlite.
CYAN and White look very similar, as do Green and Yellow
flashlite works great in a jam. use it to lite your way, find things, uh find more things, and lite your way

    -----------------------+++++++++++------------------------

    update 12/19/2007

    Email from Code Cannon himself:

I made an ota link to some updates I made to the demo.

I added a test for if the user had a monochromatic led, so it will splash a warning message before it starts. Perhaps some devices don't like it if you tell there white led to go red and it can't.
If you have testers that don't have a data plan then use

I have a help page for using the desktop application loader here

Does the change in color stay on when you exit the program or is it still just a flashlight program? Like say can I make it blink blue instead of the normal green. This program was suppose to change the color of LED based on signal.

yes, you can change the default color. In the demo, however, once you leave the application, the LED shuts off.

It is possible to keep LED on, by pressing your standby key. (but then you're screen goes dark) Still closes when you leave demo. I believe full application allows you to blink or solid LED by leaving app running in the background.

(not 100% sure as I don't have the full app myself, ask
Code Cannon (mike in the email above)

Re: ++Blinkberry...LED multicolored flashlite tweaked settings (amaze your friends)fr

    Update....

Full version DOES stay on when you exit.
(you can suspend the app, toggle blink, or manually close to fully exit)
Red end key on keypad keeps app running while in the background.
Blinking colors for signal coverage is pretty useful as it turns out.

The update now includes the ability to change the color of the flashlight itself.

Set signal colors > scroll to the bottom of the list and change there.
(saves you the trouble of setting all the crazy tweaked out settings above and you can switch easily back and forth from blink to solid LED)

    good stuff
