| Yeah it's very cool indeed. Great options all in one package, invaluable tool if you're constantly upgrading your BB, adding music, videos, etc like me. Ok i'll stop now i'm sounding like a sales pitch...lol Good work though. |

"With MCP you can easily load/save/erase any module you want, take screenshots of your device, turn the radio on or off, synchronize the time on your device to your PC, reset to factory settings (remove IT policies), perform a handheld wipe... and tons of other cool stuff! MCP can perform all possible combinations of Java Loader commands and options via an intuitive yet easy to use 32-bit graphical user interface. MCP offers a full GUI for managing and optimizing any BlackBerry operating system that is installed on your computer, including the ability to install a selected OS without having to uninstall other OS's first. All selections/operations are performed in real time and the GUI provides instant "live" feedback on the current state of the OS you are preparing to install." |

Guys I am new at all this, so why can't it read my 8830 operating system. It reads my wife's 8330.

@adp32: can you clarify what you mean by "it" and "reading" the os?

Master Command lists the OS under Operating System Management. The list displays 8330-v4.5.0.77_..... but it will not show the 8830 OS. I guess I need to know how to get my OS on my pc to configure. |

@adp32: open windows explorer and put this in the address bar: c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files do you see a folder there that contains your 8830 os? if not, you will have to download and install that os to your pc. it has to exist there or mcp (and application loader) will never be able to use it. hope this helps. p.s. - it might be a different location on 64-bit systems, let me know if that is your case. |

| You'll need to download and install a blackberry operating system to your PC before this app can see/edit it.

sgt: okay, turning off uac didn't help. but, i was able to make that behavior stop by navigating in mcp and starting the blackberry device manager. so, let's see if i can clearly sum up this behavior... i open mcp. i get the hourglass every second or so. i check task manger. there's one instance of bbdevmgr jumping between about 876k and 1220k (thereabouts) and a second instance of bbdevmgr that opens every 5-10 seconds for 1 or 2 seconds. i then navigate mcp and start the blackberry device manager. the second instance stops trying to appear and the first instance settles down to about 1450k. this is totally repeatable. that help? |

i see it now. it will do that whenever blackberry device manager isn't running. mine starts with windows which i think is the default, so i would have never seen this. ok, decision cube time! if bbdevmgr.exe is not running should i... 1) start it automatically or 2) change the pin testing timer from 2 seconds to 60 seconds? option 1 seems more logical. option 2 would only show the hourglass icon once every 60 seconds. mcp seems to still work normally in either case. |

@shmengie: this file should fix the problem. i opted to go with method #1 (above), start bbdevmgr.exe if it isn't already running. http://mcp.sodpit.com/files/mcp0905a.exe delete your mcp.exe, download the file above, and rename it to mcp.exe. er, and put it in your mcp folder. let me know if it works better. this exe also attempts to fix all four of the problems mentioned in the "just noticed..." section of the changelog: http://mcp.sodpit.com/changelog.htm these fixes are barely tested at this point and are in various stages of development. it also has an improved "vendor themes" area of the os page. the tab key works better in this page now too. i almost forgot... i found a problem with the user guide button on the os page. in 0.9.0.5 if you select "none" for the os, then select an os, the user guide button would fail with a "list index out of bounds (0)" error. this is also fixed in the new 0.9.0.5a exe. also fixed the settings -> mcp files button. if you clicked it in 0.9.0.5 it would update, then the button name would change back to the old name: "content files".
