| BlackBerry gets two IM services (Yahoo! & AOL)
BlackBerry users will soon have access to instant messenger (IM) services from America Online (AOL) and Yahoo, MobileBurn reports. Future versions of the BlackBerry will come pre-loaded with a graphical version of Yahoo's IM software, which allows users to access their contacts lists and conduct simultaneous chat sessions. The BlackBerry will also gain support for AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ, with mobile access to buddy lists and contact lists. AOL users will also be able to use their e-mail accounts via the BlackBerry. Availability and pricing will depend on mobile carriers. Read more... |

My 7730s did not come with Yahoo or AOL preloaded. I had to add the IM package to them (ICQ, MSN, AOL, Yahoo). My 7100s came with those preloaded but I added the separate Yahoo IM because it has features closer to BlackBerry Messenger.

What ever happened to AOL and ICQ? There are no apps from them you can download via RIM. Unless they meant the Tmo IM package... I would love apps for them like BB Messenger and Yahoo and GT

I use the ones preloaded by TMO...they are not that great especially MSN...it freezes up once in awhile and right in the middle of a chat I will get all sorts of error msgs...there should be a way to remove and then re-install them....hmmnnn

A little birdy, who will remain anonymous, once told me AIM will start to show its head around the end of June, if not, then July |

The thread's not that old........so, is AIM messenging service still unavailable for the 8700? I just got mine a week ago, and it doesn't seem to be loaded on it. Is it accessible as a download?
