What is left behind after deleting a program depends on that program.

Almost all of the 3rd party shareware apps will leave behind some trace information that you installed their app.

Some of the really badly designed programs may leave behind a lot of unwanted data.

The only reliable option to delete it would be to reinstall the OS.

Depends on the program. I have seen some of my friends suffer from really badly designed programs. Some that you can't uninstall, and some that leave behind not only 'trace' information but even modules / class files. It really depends on how well the developer understands the RIM architecture.

Jocelyn is correct. After uninstalling apps I've had modules left. On many occassions. Kinda sucks. But most times you can tells which modules belong to which app and delete them.

What I usually do is that before installing a new app, I do a full backup..
I then install the app, If I don't like it, I unistall it but like you all know, it always leaves traces on the bb so..
I go to the backup/restore section of the dm, advance- and clear everything on the blackberry's database and replace with the blackup..kind of a OS reload but not as time consuming...

Actually, since I have been a LOT through it, I think I will put up my 2 cents as well.

First, for those who still believe that all 3rd Party programs are super clean, let me tell you - you can not be further from truth. Well many are, but not all. I have suffered a lot and in one particular case the vendor himself finally gave up - he didn't know what to do!

Just to have an idea about the gravity of the problem I will invite you all to have a look at the following and you will know what I am talking about - (most of these links were discovered when I had this issue and was desperately searching for some way out )

Thanks to surewipe I am now care-free :P - no nuking, no wiping, no backing up, and reloading the OS.

Oh no!!! it says "I cannot post links?!!" Well...

what the !! Did I just discovered a bug in here at Pinstack?

First it said, I cannot post links because only STACK 2 and above members are allowed. But then it just allows me to post these 3 out of 5 links. Puzzled.

Thanks for the links Sincron. When I wrote that modules can be left behind, I was just speaking out of experience (of my friends Wasn't sure it has been discussed in other forums as well.

    Thanks.
