    Any freeware viewers?!

Hey all, I'm very new to the BB world and just got my 8700g a couple of weeks ago. First of all, I have to say that I love this thing. It is awesome. Coming from a motorola (very limited in it's capabilities) I feel like I can do anything with this thing. Anyways, I want to know if there is any free PDF, Excel, or Word viewers for the 8700g. I am not really interested in full programs, but just viewers. Not looking for anything illegal or out of the ordinary, I'm just curious to know if someone has developed a free reader.

    Thanks,

    asnpcwiz

You don't need to have any pdf or word viewer 'cause the 8700 come with os 4.1 and with that os you only need to go to the e-mail and click on open attachments.

    Welcome to pinstack

Welcome to pinstack.com asnpcwiz!! If you are wanting to just read attachments sn1p3r is right, you dont need to download anything. If you want to edit them, then you need to get something like eoffice. I realize you said you dont want to spend money, so download the trial, I did!

While you can view them, its marginal quality when you goto zoom at all. I know you don't want to spend $$$$, but if you change your mind, I use Repligo from Handango, and its really nice. Its a subscription service, but worth it to me. I get a lot of faxes and Pdf's here, and its kind of imperative sometimes for me. Good luck and welcome!

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm trying to open the attachment, but I can't seem to open it. Can someone tell me how I can do this? Out of curiousity...can it be because I'm using the redirector to get email??!

It may be because the attachment you are opening is too big. My 7105t sometimes only opens part of the document if it's too large...

Well, it doesn't even give me the option to open it. Anyone know how I can do this? I just don't have any idea on how to even open it.

Try checking if youv got the attachment module installed, goto options > advanced options > applications and there should be something like attachment something there. If not then you'l need to download blackberry OS and do an install of the attachment service, might even be worth doing the whole OS update while your at it if it needs it. Some instructions are here http://www.pinstack.com/blackberryfo...read.php?t=929

Got it, but still no attachments...I don't know what I could be doing wrong. I don't get any options to open the attachments.

    Update:

Ok, I can get attachments if I send emails directly to an account on the BB...but I can't view attachments if it's sent throught the redirector. Anyone know if it's possible to enable that?!?!

    Hi asnpcwiz,

As I am sure you have noticed by now, Pinstack has a pretty phenomenal user community - I was so very impressed with it after just joining a short while ago.

I am sorry to tell you that the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector does not support attachments. Please see the following link for comparision of the different message service options available for your BlackBerry.

    I hope this helps.

    Re: Any freeware viewers?!

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses. So I found a way to make it work even if you have a redirector. If anyone is interested.

Using redirector you won't get any attachments sent to your phone and therefore you won't be able to view the attachments. But you can actually use your blackberry and simply resend the email to your blackberry email account. It'll be resent with the attachments and all...you should be able to view the attachments at that point.

    Re: Any freeware viewers?!

Yes I could be a solution but you can aloso Set up a BIS account with the e-mail if you can. I've started with the redirector jsut like you but since I use it a lot It is better and faster with BIS account set up
