I wonder with Verizon having open access to the network starting next year if hangups like this will be swept aside. They did mention both handsets and applications. I would love to have AIM on my phone. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

And what do they mean system requirements? Wrong network and wrong device?

I hate to sound like a broken record because I know this is the stock response at some point to this kind of thread, but : if one was just to buy Jivetalk, that would be the end of all their IM problems.

It's great that you love your JiveTalk and recommend it to others, but I refuse to pay for it. I, personally, did not find the application useful enough. I have 2 people on all IM networks I chat with and it is not worth it (I usually just SMS everyone). There are several free alternatives (such as the SMS shortcodes for my AIM buddies or Ramble), so again no reason to make this statement... but it should be a workable application for other carriers, since people have gotten Yahoo to work elsewhere (albeit, they seem to now have opened the doors for more carriers).

jive talk is a good app but no one should have to pay for something that comes free on lower model handsets but it also dont have the pic support im now used to with the new yahoo and and gmail app i cant wait till 2.0 works for my 8830

    Re: AIM 2.0 released but.....

Jivetalk is the first software for Blackberry I have ever paid for. I don't "love" it, but it works perfect, which is a lot more than can be said about the IM software that come with Blackberries that don't even work if you have AT&T let alone some of the other carriers that they are supposed to work for. Also, even if Yahoo does work with the workaround, the others don't seem to work as well.
I also understand no one should have to pay for something that comes free on lower model handsets, but unfortunately, they don't work on most "higher" model handsets.
I really do understand not wanting to pay for Jivetalk if you don't IM enough to justify paying. I barely IM enough myself, I just got sick of workarounds that have to be redone whenever you upgrade OS systems and got sick of waiting for better solutions for the current software. I'm not saying Jivetalk is for everyone, but there are a lot of people that do think it is worth paying for.
