    I like the direction this thread is taking but is it possible? Can this be done in a work-around? I want the AIM app so bad vs. a 3rd party. The 3rd party incorporates all the other chat IM clients, and I'm not a fan of that at all!

    Is there a way to edit the AIM service books from another carrier that supports it to make them specific to AT&T (or any other carrier that currently does not support AIM)?

    Is there any way you can look up the error code? Would that even help? Seems like the code would help to target the specific problem, not just a connection error...

    I feel the same way. I really would like the AIM 2.0, I did upgrade to the 4.5 but it's still not an option for me. Any luck with this???

    Any of the 3rd party clients that support AIM will work, we're just trying to get the actual AIM client running.

    My thought for the "why" question is; for the same reason people hack Linux to boot on a PS3 or mod their Christmas lights to be controlled by strangers on the internet....

    So my answer is "because it hasn't been done yet".

    Ive been trying to get past the message as well, I get the same connection error message and i have tried messing with service books, security settings, etc but i still cant seem to find a way, has anyone else made any progress?
