I have installed the Poynt (www.mypoynt.com) application on my Bold device.

When trying to view a movie trailer get the messages
"Browser is disabled by IT policy"
"Uncaught exception; java.lang.null.Pointer.exception"

Device: Bold with OS 4.6
Connected to BES with no restrictions (has full BES Admin group rights). My BES administrators cannot figure it out.
Works fine, can view the movie trailer, when connected via WiFI -
All other functions of Poynt work fine

Everything else works fine, browsing, Telmap GPS, google via WiFi or not.

Poynt support suggested to speak to my BES admin

Any ideas how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

For some reaason, all of the Blackberry's on our BES(v 4.1.4.15) can send MMS messages but cannot receive them. Verizon claims that they are being processed correctly on their end, but due to our BES settings they are then being dropped and not delivered. Any idea what settings may need to be fixed to allow this? Verizon said we just need to allow pictures to be downloaded and then refresh the profiles.

This applies to Blackberry Curve 8330.

Any ideas?

Hi all,

Just upgraded to BES5, all went well. During the demo, PIN and SMS logging was switched on using a new policy, applied to a couple of users and sure enough this worked just fine.

The policy was removed and the standard 'default' policy is now back in place for the couple of test users.

Thing is now, these test users are still being logged and I don't know how to stop this!!! They show as having the default policy applied and not the test policy....we deleted this policy.

Can anyone help please.
Thanks

Hi all, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this. We have a number of blackberries...

Hi all, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this. We have a number of blackberries with unlimited BES plans and our own BES server. So as long as the BB data goes through our BES portal, we are not charged. however, if we were to use a different APN, we would be charged for the data. I was under the (false) belief that, as long as we didn't enter an APN in TCP/IP settings then all data would go through the BES server. The recent charges on our account from a few of the staff prove me wrong. I have been speaking to Vodafone (our carrier) and it seems some applications can have their own APN specified within the application. So it can connect straight to the Net and incur charges for us. Is this correct?

If so, is there some way to determine which applications are connecting directly through an APN and stop them? Thanks for any assistance given.

Hi All,

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with the following.

BES Server -- Bluecoat Proxy -- Perfect web browsing

BB Device -- Direct Web -- Perfect Web browsing

BB Device -- Bluecoat Proxy -- Very Very Slow web browsing

There is no authentication on the proxy and no IP filtering enabled. They just want to filter some of the sites that the users may access from their Devices.

I guess there is something there in they way the BES is performing NAT for the BB Device which relates to the Proxy server performance maybe ?

Any input is appreicated.
Following the recommendations of Microsoft we have not installed the public folders.
We have BES 4.1.6 and only Outlook 2007 clients: should we or not configure public folders ?

Hello everyone,
I am hoping that someone can help me resolve issues that we have with our windows...

Hello everyone,
I am hoping that someone can help me resolve issues that we have with our windows 2003 exchange server, loaded with BES 4.1 (I believe). The blackberry services won't run now.
I recently took over administration of this server and am new to Microsoft Exchange and BES, so I'm trying to learn about these as quickly as possible.

Here's what happened:
The server froze one morning, and couldn't be accessed at all directly or through remote desktop. The only option was to do a power off on the machine. Upon reboot, there were a number of errors in exchange and none of the blackberry services would start up. Long story short, after replacing a dll (jcb.dll) that a lot of errors were pointing to with a fresh copy from the win 2003 server CD, and doing a repair on the exchange database, we've been able to get exchange services running properly with mailbox stores and public folders available again.

However, the following is still happening:

- event log shows errors in MSExchangeAL with event ID 8231
Permanent failure reported by policy group provider for 'CN=Recipient Policies,CN=Name,CN=MicrosoftExchange,CN=Services, CN=Configuration,DC=Name,DC=com':'MAD.EXE', error=8000ffff.

Taking provider offline.

just recently, we discovered that one of our domain controllers, which is also our primary DNS, ran out of virtual memory and had already crashed before the exchange server did. The computer was unresponsive so I rebooted it but haven't had time to verify whether its services are running properly yet. I'm wondering if this could have something to do with the exchange server problems.

At the same time, the following BES services are popping up error windows saying that they've encountered an error and can't run: controller, dispatcher and router

Trying to start them manually still fails, so our blackberry users can't view or interact with their exchange calendars on their devices now. This is the main feature we use BES for.

As I don't know much about exchange and BES (yet), would greatly appreciate if anyone can provide insight and/or point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

Having an issue with this new curve not wanting to activate.

I have a few Curve 8320s as well as some Storm 9530s on my current BES setup. These are all Verizon phones but the Curve 8900 is an AT&T phone on a personal account instead of a business one.

At the enterprise activation screen, the only difference I can see is a spot for "Activation Server Address" field. I have left it blank as well as put my BES server address in. The phone just sits at the "Activating zzz@yyy.com" and does not activate.
Any help? Kind of at a loss right now.
