Hi everybody,

I have a somehow strange problem and I don't know exactly how to resolve it.

We have some older 8310 in use that are running OS 4.2 and since my company is located in Austria the language is set to "German" for screen and input language. While everything in fact is in German, the only thing that is NOT is the AutoText dictionary that defaults to English only, no matter what.
I tried to upgrade one device to the latest OS offered by our carrier (T-Mobile Austria) which is 4.5.0.294.
During the OS upgrade I chose to get rid of all languages except for German and English (I can't disable "English" during the upgrade process), including all additional language options.

Still, even after the upgrade, the only entries in the AutoText dictionary are English only.

This is something that I have never seen before, all other Blackberries I have been working with didn't show this behavior. The AutoText dictionary always adapted to the input language. I have had myself a 8300 and 9000 and now a 8220 that always properly switched from English to German whenever I changed the input language.

Does anybody know why this would happen? Could this be related to a setting on the BES? We run version 4.x - I can look up the exact version number on Monday.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks,
Clemens

Question for the experts - I have my SMS sound on my phone in "normal" profile set to a sound. I know under "contacts" I have the option to set custom sounds for "messages" for contacts. However, I checked them all and they all default to that "bb_sanguine" and there isn't an option to actually turn the custom profiles for contacts off. I want the same SMS sound for everyone. Ideas?

I got the new 9700 today and while I was all fired up to use a phone with 5.0OS, I am having serious problems with the new SMS. Here are the steps I took.

1. Restored data from previous berry. SMS messages ended up "threaded" which was really cool.
2. Noticed that one of my SMS threads was "repeated" in Messenger because it from a person who is also a Messenger contact.
3. Chose to "close conversation" in Messenger of the SMS threads. Noticed that by doing that the thread in the SMS folder was also gone.
4. Using the "advanced" feature of the "backup and restore" in Desktop Manager, I replaced the SMS on the phone with the SMS from my previous device, which I had backed up before the swap.

However, the problem is, no matter how many times I do this, or whether I do a battery pull before the restore, after, or both, the SMS thread that I had "closed" earlier will NOT come back, even though it is clearly the same data that i restored earlier. It WILL show back up in Messenger, and Messenger only, as a threaded SMS, but as soon as I do a battery pull, it goes away.

Ideas? Anyone? I keep SMS messages practically forever so this is going to be a HUGE problem if I can't figure out why it is doing this....

However, in terms of usablity I like that my convos aren't deleted randomly by bbm as they sometimes were in the beta. Maybe I'll need a bit more time getting used to the subtle differences.
