While I understand the carriers' reluctance to allow phones to be unlocked for use on other networks, I think we're seeing a trend in the market of people moving towards pre-paid plans (like my personal favorite, Solavei ).

Sure it's nice to be able to use a carrier's subsidy to get a shiny new device for sometimes next to nothing, however I am one of many people who feel that it's our right to use whatever phone on whatever carrier we so choose. The only way to accomplish that is to have an unlocked device, which as of earlier this year has become illegal.

I've already signed the attached petition, but would urge you to do so as well so we can put an end to this nonsense. They are about 20,000 votes shy of their 100,000 vote goal, so please sign and pass this along.
