  • 10 Tips to Help Extend the Battery life of Your iPhone

In the beginning my fully-charged iPhone 3GS rarely made it through the day without needing a re-charge. You may be having the same experience. The problem is not that the iPhone has poor battery life, quite the contrary, it’s the web browsing, PUSH notifications, vibrations, sounds, video, iPod music, streaming and constant launching of app after app throughout the day... all contributes to poor battery performance. However, with a few tweaks to the iPhone OS, most of us will be able to get through the day on a full charge.

Although the tips below will yield noticeable results when implemented, a lot will still depend on your usage habits. For example, voice calls can drain your battery pretty fast! If on average you are engaged in voice calls for more than 1 hour per day you should prepare to charge at some point during the day.

Additionally, a good rule of thumb, once your battery hits 50% (not 25% or 10%) view this situation as urgent and find a solution to re-charge. This is because many times when we hit 25% or 10% we are not in a position to charge and could end up with a dead device in a crucial situation.

Now, on to the 10 battery life conservation tips...

Blue: Shut everything down! = Extreme savings.
Green: Our recommended settings = Noticeable savings. (Screenshots)

Perfect timing hayden. Great post for everyone to use. Same goes for the others you posted.

Would you consider making these Sticky's?

I just posted in IHateMyTreos thread about returning his Incredable.

It's a delicate balance between the hardware, software and how it's powered. The battery life is a very important piece.

      Great post thanks

I have tryed using battery programs and all kinds of things with no acceptable results really. I'm sure these mods will help but I would like to see an after market battery that holds up more than noticably better. I'm tired of charging two to three times a day! On that note; I noticed that the charge holds longer if you charge your phone in your vehicle. I think it has something to do with the longer charging cycle.

I agree with some of this stuff but, doesn't disabling vibrate and ringtones/sms tones kind of defeat the purpose of having a cell phone? how would you know when a new call/text/email was coming in?
